Celebrating 20 years of INDYCAR Grand Prix in St. Petersburg
The weekend of March 8-10, the City of St. Pete celebrated its 20th year as host for the INDYCAR Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. In a street circuit along the downtown waterfront of our bustling city, this spectacle continues to deliver excitement and fun for fans, teams, drivers, and community sponsors.
Dynabyte was there to partake, starting off with the celebration of two decades of champions at the Mahaffee Theater, where we had an opportunity to catch up with current Mayor Ken Welch.
Saturday and Sunday were packed with races in different categories, incl. INDY NXT and USF2000, but also a live concert by rock icon Bret Michaels.
The weekend wrapped with the INDYCAR series season opener on Sunday afternoon: the INDYCAR 100-lap Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, with plenty of drama and fast racing! In the end, Newgarden took home the P1 trophy in an impressive dominance on the track. As a nod to our Dynabyte and Qgroup founders, there were even three Swedish drivers on the circuit this sunny day in March, including last year’s winner, Marcus Ericsson.
